I decided to make a super fun, high quality coaster, featuring my own vibrant highly detailed drawings of unusual creatures.
After some experimenting, I believe I came up with a super cool, unique way to make a truly handmade, super high quality piece of original artwork, that will protect your table from your beverage for a very, very long time.
It's a bit of a process, but I will break it down here for ya.
The first step is to actually make the artwork, this parts up to you, for this series, because I wanted the super crisp lines, I did each original drawing in photoshop, using only the polygon lasso tool and the paint bucket. Then, I made a pattern in photoshop which was the exact dimensions of my silicon coaster molds. I then create a super high quality vinyl sticker of my artwork, using printable vinyl with an adhesive backing, and a clear UV protective layer on top of the artwork. After having produced the artwork, I cast a small layer of SmoothCast 65D resin into my coaster molds, in order to create a thin durable properly shaped object on which to apply my artwork, once the first layer of resin cured, I then applied my artwork, then I poured a layer of heat resistant epoxy resin over top of the artwork, to lock it in and protect it from any damage.
Please remember, each one is handmade, so they may look slightly different from the pictures, there may be a few bubbles in the clear resin, some minor blemishes here and there, I am a weirdo artist not a factory machine, but they are still awesome and functional little works of original art, made with love right here in my little studio.
Each one has a cork backing, so it won't scratch your table and they are approximately 4 inches square by about a 3/25 inch thick.
Each coaster is also signed on the back by the artist...me!
