Let's get weird!
Your humble creative weirdo,
Howdy weirdos,
It's been a really damn long time since the last time I wrote to you beautiful people. Good grief! Please accept my apologies, things have been a little on the crazy side.
I have been making an insane amount of awesome new sculpts, in preparation for my first in person selling event since I closed the gallery inside Crafted, and my first convention table since 2019!
Come find me and my new Embrace the Weird sculpts and goodies on August 14th - 15th at table #922C inside the Pasadena Convention Center at "Awaken The Spirits" presented by Midsummer Scream! Click the image above for more information and to get tickets to the event if you are able to get to California for an awesome horror convention!
If for some reason, you cannot make it to the convention and really want to collect one of these new sculpts, you have until the end of the day on Thursday August 12th to place your order through EmbraceTheWeird.Design before I pull them offline to sell at the convention!
Your humble creative weirdo,
Brian A. Bernhard

Howdy monster lovers,
Apparently, I can't stop...won't stop!
I made a new thing again!
This time I wanted to see what kind of fun could be had with googlie eyes in my resin coasters!
I only made a batch of 8, so get them while you can!
I produced a little mold making and resin casting video tutorial while making this batch of coasters. Please check it out here, and maybe learn a little something new:
I also still have some Skullie coasters in stock as well if you still need to collect one!
]]>Howdy weirdos,
Over the past several months, we have done some reflecting on what's been working and what has not, and how all of that aligns with our dedication to functioning as responsibly as possible while we all live through this pandemic. Back in July 2020 when we reopened after the initial lockdowns in LA, I made a promise to myself that I would do my absolute best to stay open as responsibly as possible until the holidays in the hopes that things might have time to get better, and maybe society would have time to get COVID19 under control.
Well, the holidays came and went and they were not good for the weird art retail gallery business. The frustrating part is that this time last year, January through the first two weeks of March was our most financially successful time in business ever. I finally felt like I had created something that was truly working. Collectors were collecting and our in-person workshops and classes were booming.
After the pandemic hit, I didn't bring back in-person workshops and classes, because I just did not feel it was the most responsible thing to do.
So over the last few months, I have been researching, planning, and developing new classes and workshops that I will be offering online only, and I will be pivoting our entire business to an online only model. I am much more comfortable carefully packing my art up and shipping it to you, as opposed to asking you to come to a physical indoor space to collect my work while we are still trying to safely navigate this pandemic.
I am also working diligently to update the website, and bring you all kinds of new artworks and product designs!
I know this goes against everything I just wrote, but I still have a tone of t-shirts, socks, neckties, hoodies, scarves and all kinds of other apparel in stock at the store, if any of you are comfortable with coming in over the next two weekends to collect some stuff at a huge discount, that would be amazing. Please remember that masks are absolutely required in the market, and I have total plexiglass shield covering around my retail kiosk, so we can do this as safely as possible.
I will be in the market, Saturday through Sunday from 2PM - 6PM this coming weekend and next weekend. I will be backing up the shop and hibernating it in storage beginning in February, so this will be our last month at Crafted for the foreseeable future. We will be reassessing things once COVID19 is under control.
Thanks again for all your support these past 3 years.
Sorry we have to pack it up...for now.
-Brian

As you may or may not have realized, I did not post any new episodes last week. We opted to maintain solidarity with the #BLM movement around the country and posting any new content would serve as a distraction from the issues.
So this weeks interview features the amazing USA Today best selling author, Russell Nohelty. The conversation is intense, its creative, and he is a wonderful wealth of knowledge and creative flow. Russell is always moving and making and its hard to keep up, this interview was recorded back in April, so some of the things we talk about have already happened, and some of the things we talk about are happening right now.
To go deeper down the Nohelty universe, please check out his websites at www.TheCompleteCreative.com and www.RussellNohelty.com

What would you do, if you were a professional writer, diagnosed with a brain tumor smack dab in the middle of the language processing center of your brain? What would you if a knowable early deadline was placed on your ability to achieve your creative dreams?
Well, that’s just what happened to my friend “Ian Blake Newhem”, a brilliant and successful professional writer for decades, whose career trajectory was detailed when an unwanted roommate decided to move into is brain. So rather than pack it in, he decided to push himself to his creative limits and write 12 books in 12 months before he is unable to write ever again!
Please enjoy this rollercoaster of a conversation, we dig into how he is moving forward with his project after being detailed with a global pandemic, the value of art and overcoming fears that threaten to kill the creative spirit!

]]>Amazing tattoo artist farmers in the mountains of West Virginia is what this weeks show is all about! In this episode I get to reconnect with a wonderfully talented entrepreneurial friend of mine from high school, who I haven’t spoken with in years.
I apologize in advance again, as the Internet connection during this interview was quite awful. It sounded much better when doing it when when I reviewed the recording. I will let you know however, I have since run a 100 foot ethernet cable to my office, so I am no longer recording the podcast over WiFi and its like night and day with the dropouts. I had to do some ninja level editing to clean this one up, I did they best I could…Its still great content and a wonderful conversation.
Enjoy!

Things are surreal as shit in this middle of this or any pandemic for that matter, this is my first, so its the only one I can speak about from a first person perspective and personally, I would have been totally cool if I had been able to go through life without ever living through a pandemic on this scale, but here we are…we are dealing with it, because well, we must…it sucks, but sometimes shit spirals out of control and we have to adapt and evolve.
So here we are, at episode four, and I am releasing new episodes about as fast as I can edit them, but it’s become a Wednesday thing, Wednesday is now the official release date, I will do my best to maintain that consistency for you.
In this episode of the show, we get to hang out and have a spirited conversation with Gil Nevo, a brilliant artist, commercial artist, branding expert and animator (even worked on South Park for 10 years)! I am a huge fan of him and his work. We get to talking about entrepreneurship in a pandemic and what that might look like in the future, as well as, making other creative cool shit, we also get a peak into some new animations he is developing.
Thanks for hanging with us!

]]>So far in the podcast, we have interviewed an inspiring Australian theater director/ performer in Switzerland, an amazing mentalist comedian from Denver and todays episode we are interviewing a brilliant Russian eccentric clown theater performer in the mountains of Europe named Igor Mamlenkov!
I’ve intentionally picked wonderful artists and humans from all around the world to begin this podcast series with a very open minded global perspective of what is going on during a pandemic in the creative communities.
I truly do hope you fall in love with this incredible creative human!

]]>Y’all are in for a real treat today, as I got to have a fantastic conversation with Professor Phelyx, a true artsy fartsy through and through, he is a world class mind reading mentalist comedian, a corporate speaker, fine artist, nationally acclaimed designer, he has performed as a variety artist in 3,000 burlesque shows, he once was a professional Andy Warhol historian, he has also owned his own art gallery and has done some crazy creative artworks with bleach!
If you hang with us long enough, you might even have your mind read! Also, please note, as you may or may not already know, we are in the midst of a global pandemic, and just about every responsible human on the planet has quarantined themselves; therefore, I am producing and recording these interviews through various streaming video services and the quality of both the audio and the video varies greatly with the quality of the various internet connections.

Welcome to the first every full episode of “Artsy Fartsy Things and Stuff!”, the first podcast interview I have conducted in over 6 years! I am a little rusty, so please be kind, while I get back into the flow of this whole interview / conversation game.
In this episode I got to reconnect with an amazing rockstar of a human known to the world as, “Tom Greder”, an amazing itinerant theater artist, actor, director and inspirational creative human. He was born in Switzerland, raised in Australia; I met him in Barcelona and we collaborated on a project together many years ago in New Orleans…the dude gets around! lol.
He has a unique global perspective of life, comedy, entertainment and art. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Personally, I wanted to also baby step my way back into the podcast world; interviewing amazing people I know in real life, who are real world friends and truly inspiring people. So, it’s perfect to be launching this episode with Tom, he is incredibly kind, a great communicator, a wonderful soul and just an incredible inspiration to anyone who has met him or experienced his work.

Things are weird right now, really, really weird.
We are all stuck at home, no hiking, no shopping, no socializing, no going to the parks or beaches and folks are getting sick and dying all over the world.
Many of us are scared and feel helpless, some of us are coping better than other and some just think they are coping better, until the PTSD truly kicks in.
All that being said, my name is Brian A. Bernhard; I am an artist and a small business owner. I have (still I think as if writing this, although its now been closed for over a month) a small art gallery and a boutique called Embrace the Weird located inside the amazing Crafted arts and crafts market at the Port of Los Angeles.
I have a background in production and have been wanting to produce a new podcast about creativity and artists for the last few years, with things like my boutique and art gallery always getting in the way…well guess what…that’s not so much of an issue right now, because… well you know why.
This podcast is all about what it's like to be a visual artist, entrepreneur, musician, filmmaker, performer and/or general creative ninja, living in the year 2020. We get into the ups, downs, and everything in between, when it comes to creative people navigating the world, and yes, we get into the monkey in the room which is this insane pandemic we are all living in.
No, my show isn’t designed to be only about living though the apocalypse, but it's what we are all navigating at the moment, it maybe the one thing that connects every human globally for the foreseeable future, so we just just dig into it.
But never fear, the interviews are about amazing creative people, doing amazing creative things and stuff, not me and not a stupid virus, but truly about inspiring creative output.
The only thing that it an issue is budget and that’s where our Patreon campaign comes into play. We are only doing a per episode campaign though Patreon, not a monthly subscription, so you will ever only be charged when we post new episodes of the show.
That being said, I am making this show freely available on every distribution outlet I can find, so your support of the show is option, however I will make sure your support is worth your while.
Please support the show here: www.patreon.com/artsyfartsyshow
The show is also being distributed on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram TV, as well as, all the major podcasting networks!
Thanks,
Host/Producer

Are you ready for the most romantic date night ever!?
Come with your love, a first date, a best friend, or solo, cause either way it's gonna be super fun!
Can't draw? Don't feel comfortable creating your own artistic composition? Then come get your adult coloring canvas on with us! Psychologists say that coloring relieves stress and provides the same self-soothing meditative benefit as yoga and other mindfulness techniques.
Award winning artist Brian A. Bernhard has done the heavy creative lifting and crafted a beautifully weird Valentine's Day-themed composition, featuring a weird demon cupid and his demonic cherub minions swirling in a sea of hearts! Yes, it's some pretty darn weird art, but would you expect anything less from the mad man behind the South Bay's very own weird art gallery / boutique "Embrace the Weird"?
All the outlines are printed on a white 12" x 12", 16" x 16", or a 20" x 20" artist canvas. Professional-grade, super-vibrant Montana acrylic paint markers will be available for coloring the canvas and once you are finished, we will hit the artwork with a clear coat of Winsor and Newton gloss varnish to lock in the epic colors!
Brian will be on site to guide you through using the coloring markers, sort out your color choices, and help you with any other creative questions during the workshop.
There are plenty of amazing things to do around the market while you wait for the clear coat to dry: you can marble a silk scarf, make a candle, eat some fresh roasted nuts, snack on a cakepop, or even head on over to the brewery next door and taste some craft beers!
All the canvases must be custom printed on demand before the workshop, therefore you will need to register for the class and reserve your canvas of choice before Wednesday, February 6th. It takes the manufacturer approximately 8 - 9 days to get the canvases produced and delivered, so please do not wait or you will miss out on this epic event!
Please note, the ticket cost is per canvas, not per person. If you want to bring your date, loved one, friend or small friend group to help you color the canvas, please feel free (Just send me a note, so I will know how many to expect).
Additionally, the larger the canvas you get the easier the details will be to color in. We have tested out the fine tipped markers on the 12" canvas and they work great, but are a little more challenging to get all the details.
Don't worry, if for some reason, you are unable to finish coloring your canvas during the allotted workshop time, we have just installed a creative art bar inside "Embrace the Weird" at Crafted, where you can drop in whenever you want, to finish your canvas!
Use the discount code LETSGETWEIRD at checkout for a 15% discount!
If you have any question please contact Brian at artist@embracetheweird.design

He will educate you on the magical creative ways of the acrylic paint marker and even seal the deal with a clear coat varnish to protect your creation and bring out the shine!
There are plenty of amazing things to do around the market while you wait for the clear coat to dry, you can marble a silk scarf, make a candle, eat some fresh roasted nuts, snack on a cake pop, or even head on over to the brewery next door and taste some craft beers!

ATTN. ALL WEIRDOS & ART LOVERS:
We have finally created a fun weird art drop in style collaborative workshop at our boutique in San Pedro inside the Crafted Market!
I have transferred a bunch of my weird holiday designs onto some fun Xmas ornaments, and I will guide you through coloring them, enhancing them, making them your own unique work of art, then finishing them off to make a one of a kind original collaboration. We can even sign and date the back of the ornament together to lock in our collaborative efforts forever!
It takes about 30 - 45 minutes from start to finish to make your finished weird art ornament, so please allow for the time.
We only have 2 seats at our current work table, so if it gets super busy, I will set up a first come first serve sign up sheet, where you can walk around the market and I will text you when your space frees up. If things get really busy, I will see if the market can create a larger workspace for us.
It's only $25 for this unique opportunity to collaborate with a master weirdo artist! We will accept payment onsite only at a first come first serve basis, so please come early!
Please RSVP here, so I know how many ornaments I will have to prepare.
Join us:

From 11am - 5pm

Embrace the Weird

I look forward to this crafty adventure and collaborating with you all!
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." - Mark Twain
Let's celebrate the life of one of the worlds greatest American creative weirdos! Friday November 30th, 2018 would have been Mr. Twain's 183rd Birthday! What better way to commemorate the creator of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry FInn and one of our greatest humorists, than to get one of our "Tweakin' Twain" shirts! Order them online, or come to our boutique in San Pedro, we have some in stock this weekend!
Also, if you plan to order anything from us online as a Holiday gift, please order NOW! Most of our products are manufactured on demand and take a few weeks to ship, couple that with how bogged down the postal system gets during the holidays and its a recipe for disappointment if you don't order early enough.
For all you last minute types, we will have some extended in store hours and weird art ornament workshops coming up, so stay tuned!

Embrace the Weird!
Today, June 7th, 2018 would have been his 60th birthday.
When I was a kid, the first record single I owned was, "Little Red Corvette". It was catchy, it was groovy, it spoke to me and I was not even a big fan of Corvettes. Prince has always been and will always be one of my all time favorite recording artists. I snatched up the Sign "O" the Times album as soon as I was aware of its existence.
Then something magical happened...
I saw a commercial on TV, which said Prince was performing a live concert (the LoveSexy Tour) at the Hampton Coliseum, relatively close to where I lived (nothing was ever closer than an hour away, because I grew up in the middle of No-Wheres-Ville, Gum Swamp, Virginia)! I knew I needed to experience it. I was about 10 years old and I had never been to see a live music concert like this before, so I managed to convince my parents to take me.
It was a life altering experience.
I went to this show on October 8th, 1988, and I can remember it as if it were yesterday.
I remember Prince pulling up in his Ford Thunderbird, I remember my dad freaking out when they got on the bed and began to grind, I remember all the sexy dancing, I remember the energy, the stage in the round, the mind blowing Sheila E. drum solo, I remember the musicality, but most of all I remember how weird and wonderful the vibe was, how free everyone was, not only on stage but in the audience as well.
Prince was enabling everyone in the audience, even my dad to feel the funk! From that point on, I knew that there was something special in the air when a weirdo artist lets their freak flag fly!
It was a huge blow to my creative flow, when Prince passed away (far too soon) in April of 2016. So I did what I do and I made some art to honor "The Great Purple Artist" for his birthday!
T-shirts featuring this design are available in the shop!
Be inspired and have your mind blown, watch the "LoveSexy" tour concert here: ]]>
